Research & Innovation

TRACE strengthens institutional capacity through targeted training, policy research, and technology-driven innovation, enabling public and private stakeholders to adopt sustainable international best practices.

Overview

TRACE delivers evidence-based research, diagnostics, and policy analysis to support informed decision-making and practical reform across the trade ecosystem. We work with governments, development partners, and the private sector to assess regulatory frameworks, institutional capacities, trade procedures, and sector-specific constraints and to develop practical, context-responsive recommendations aligned with international best practices.

Our work includes tariff and trade policy analysis, time release studies, assessments of sanitary and phytosanitary policies and systems, laboratory capacity assessments, sector-specific policy and regulatory reviews, and reform assessments of national trade legislation and instruments, conducted for the government, national, and international partners. TRACE also supports the development of analytical frameworks, implementation of roadmaps, monitoring tools, and technology-enabled solutions that help institutions translate research findings into measurable reform actions.

The TRACE team also has expertise in assessing the potential benefits, costs, and broader implications of trade facilitation reforms. Their work includes quantifying the benefits of risk-based clearance for agricultural products, benchmarking international best practices, analyzing the trade implications of LDC graduation, conducting cost-benefit and regulatory impact assessments, and evaluating the institutional, procedural, and economic implications of proposed reforms.

We deliver evidence-based recommendations and tailored solutions that support effective policymaking, stronger institutional performance, and sustainable trade reform, drawing on robust analysis, sector expertise, stakeholder engagement, and practical implementation experience.
