Mahanaz Akter Lopa serves as a trade facilitation specialist with over four years of experience in trade facilitation and international affairs management. Her role encompasses trade and economic research, trade policy and regulatory analysis, WTO TFA gap assessments, and trade and investment analysis. It involves analyzing trade flows, tariffs, non-tariff measures, market access, competitiveness, export trends, and investment-related issues. She is also engaged in preparing policy briefs, technical reports, sector studies, and analytical outputs, conducting comparative and international benchmarking, and supporting trade-related projects through stakeholder consultations, workshops, policy dialogues, and engagement with government agencies, development partners, business associations, and private-sector organizations, as well as presenting findings and recommendations to clients and relevant stakeholders.
In her previous role, she was involved in trade and investment research, trade facilitation, trade policy analysis, economic diplomacy, and cross-country stakeholder engagement. Her responsibilities included trade research, investment analysis, trade facilitation, economic diplomacy, policy analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Her responsibilities included conducting country and market research, preparing trade and investment statistical profiles, and developing policy briefs, analytical reports, concept notes, feasibility studies, and briefing materials to support trade promotion and policy recommendations. She also supported organizing international business delegations and trade promotion events in collaboration with multiple stakeholders.
She completed her BBA and MBA, with a major in international business, from the University of Dhaka. Following her undergraduate studies, she completed her thesis, which was subsequently presented at the Sixth Biennial Conference of the Indian Academy of Management (INDAM), held at IIM Tiruchirappalli in 2020, as a co-authored research paper. She also completed a second thesis as part of her postgraduate studies.
Beyond her academic pursuits, she has been involved in article writing for magazines and participated in the Dhaka University Model United Nations, reflecting her interests in research, writing, and extracurricular engagement.
