TRACE Consulting and BGMEA Hold Strategic Consultation on Trade, Regulatory, and Market Access Reforms
TRACE Consulting recently met with the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to understand the garment industry's priorities for trade, regulatory, and market-access reforms.
Mr. Inamul Haq Khan, Senior Vice President of BGMEA, and Mr. Sheikh Hossain Muhammad Mustafiz, Director of BGMEA, joined TRACE Consulting to discuss the garment industry's priorities for trade and regulatory reform.
Participants identified key challenges related to cotton traceability, documentary compliance, non-tariff barriers in the US market, HS code classification, customs and port procedures, regulatory digitalization, and payment security for exporters.
BGMEA also called for a centralized bonded warehouse for US cotton, greater recognition of Bangladesh's green manufacturing credentials, and stronger regulatory integration through the National Single Window. The consultation helped identify practical reforms to strengthen supply chain resilience, improve trade facilitation, and enhance the global competitiveness of Bangladesh's garment industry.
