Dr. Md. Mehedi Hossain, former director of extension at the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Bangladesh, has over 40 years of experience in livestock development, food safety, and international trade policy.
He earned an M.P.H. from American International University–Bangladesh, an M.S. in veterinary science, and a DVM from Bangladesh Agricultural University. Throughout his career, Dr. Hossain has served as Bangladesh’s OIE Communication Focal Point, SAARC Epidemiological Focal Point, and INFOSAN Focal Point on animal health under WHO and FAO. He has led major projects with FAO, the World Bank, and UNIDO aimed at strengthening food safety, veterinary services, and policy frameworks for the livestock sector.
His expertise includes transboundary animal disease management, SPS compliance, and animal product export facilitation, with a strong record of advancing food security and regulatory improvement in Bangladesh.
