Visual Communication Intern

The Visual Communication Intern will take end-to-end ownership of TRACE Consulting's visual content and digital channels, designing materials that translate research, policy, and technical proposal content into clear visuals and growing TRACE's presence across social and digital platforms. This role suits someone comfortable working across both design and channel management, who is confident using modern design and AI-assisted content tools, and who can bring a degree of independent judgment to planning and running TRACE's day-to-day digital presence within the standards expected of a professional advisory environment.

Compensation: BDT 20,000 to 25,000, as per skills

Key Responsibilities

  • Design social-media posts, carousels, banners, reels, and other digital assets for project and organisational communications
  • Create infographics and data visualisations that translate research findings, trade and policy concepts, and technical proposal content into clear, accessible visuals
  • Support the layout and design of reports, technical proposals, presentations, and policy briefs, working closely with technical and business development teams
  • Use AI-assisted content tools (e.g. image, video, or copy generation tools) to speed up ideation and first drafts, with human review for accuracy, brand fit, and appropriateness before publishing
  • Produce short-form video content and basic edits for social platforms and events
  • Build and maintain a library of reusable templates, icon sets, and design assets aligned with TRACE Consulting's visual identity
  • Support visual documentation of policy events, workshops, and stakeholder consultations, including basic photography or videography coverage as needed
  • Own the day-to-day management, posting, and scheduling of TRACE Consulting's social-media channels, including LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Develop and maintain content calendars aligned with project milestones, events, and organizational announcements
  • Apply organic growth practices audience targeting, posting cadence, hashtag and keyword use to grow reach and engagement on Meta platforms and YouTube
  • Monitor Meta Business Suite and Google/YouTube Analytics to track channel performance, and prepare periodic reports with clear takeaways
  • Tailor content and tone appropriately for LinkedIn's professional audience versus Meta's broader audience
  • Monitor comments and messages, flagging items that need a response, and route sensitive or policy-related content through the relevant technical lead before publishing
  • Maintain organised, clearly labelled design files and a consistent, on-brand tone of voice across channels
  • Coordinate with project and proposal teams to meet tight deadlines and incorporate feedback through revision cycles

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a relevant undergraduate or graduate programme (e.g. graphic design, visual communication, media studies, communications, marketing, or a related field)
  • Working knowledge of Canva for day-to-day design production
  • Comfortable using large language model (LLM) tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini) to draft, refine, and prompt for content and design ideas
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and cloud-based productivity suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and equivalents such as Google Workspace)
  • Ability to prepare clear, well-designed presentations independently
  • Practical experience posting and scheduling content on social media platforms
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency in layout, typography, tone, and colour use
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good written and spoken English
  • A professional, collaborative attitude and willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with Adobe Express or Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, or InDesign)
  • Basic video editing skills using tools such as CapCut or DaVinci Resolve
  • Exposure to AI-based content generation tools such as Nano Banana, Midjourney, Veo, or Kling AI
  • Practical experience or coursework in organic social-media growth strategy
  • Working knowledge of Meta Business Suite / Meta Analytics or Google Analytics for tracking and growing performance on Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube
  • Understanding of LinkedIn's posting formats and best practices for professional/institutional audiences
  • Familiarity with Figma for collaborative or web-based design work
  • Basic familiarity with website builders such as Wix or WordPress for content or template updates
  • Interest in international trade, policy, or development topics
  • Prior design or social-media experience through coursework, freelance work, or student organizations
